From Cathy's Desk - K-TEK at AU - Updated ICE program - Virtual Bench - New K-Start offerings - New address & phone # From Cathy’s Desk It’s hard to believe that four months have passed. If you’re busy in the consulting business it’s a good sign, and we’re seeing very good signs here at K-TEK.
We have continued to expand our consultant roster improving our depth with both Civil Engineering and Geospatial talent. This has allowed us to take on more business, and also expand the breadth of our project capabilities. And to further extend our capabilities, we’ve been investing in our consultants to enhance their skill sets, for example by sending people to Oracle Training and to the September AEC DevCamp.
K-TEK is also closing new work, and one positive trend is that we’re bidding on and winning larger and longer-term projects. And although the project work has expanded, K-TEK continues with our core focus in the geospatial and civil markets.
This fall K-TEK was one of a select group of outside companies invited to attend Autodesk’s Civil 3D “adoption summit”. We know from our interactions with Autodesk resellers and customers that Civil 3D adoption remains a challenge for many, and this summit was an opportunity to brainstorm with key Autodesk staff to identify strategies to reduce the adoption challenge and help customers become successful and productive with Civil 3D.
We’ve also invested further in our back office operations, to ensure that customers get consistently good service and that our consultants have the support necessary to focus on serving customers. While an efficient back office isn’t (and shouldn’t be) visible to customers and partners, it allows me and the team to spend more time addressing customer needs and providing superior service.
So after 10 months in the job I’m pleased to report that K-TEK is firing on all cylinders, growing the business, and allowing us to further expand customers’ success using Autodesk’s technology.
Regards,
Cathy Wagenaar, K-TEK President and COO
K-TEK at Autodesk University 2007 Autodesk University promises to be a busy time for K-TEK. Be sure to visit us at booth #216 to learn more about our services, including the innovative K-Start and Virtual Bench programs. Find out about recent projects, and don’t forget to pick up a free Starbucks card. You’ll see some familiar faces and meet some of the new people.
In addition to having a booth, K-TEK will be presenting a full day session to a group of 30 Autodesk strategic account customers. The focus of this session will be Civil 3D implementation and adoption strategies, and it will be a wonderful opportunity to both share what K-TEK has learned, and to learn from the real-world experiences of these customers.
K-TEK plays key role developing updated Civil ICE programAutodesk has just completed a round of reseller training sessions, presenting an improved strategy and approach for ensuring customer success implementing Civil 3D. The successor to Autodesk’s ICE program, this AIEP (Autodesk Implementation Expert Program) provides resellers with a comprehensive program plus a delivery toolkit. All of this content is easily accessible through a browser-based interface, and is designed to empower the Autodesk reseller channel to deliver these new services.
K-TEK consultants served as the subject matter experts on all elements of this project, including the consultative methodology, the Civil 3D proficiency model, the delivery toolkit, and the overall program design. We working in conjunction with the Autodesk development team, Autodesk Consulting, experienced delivery resources plus customers and resellers to deliver what one reseller trainee described as “one of the best, if not the best training I have ever gotten from Autodesk”.
Resellers – expand your service capabilities with Virtual BenchIf you’re an Autodesk reseller, you’re experienced in meeting the full range of customer needs including implementation and service delivery. And your customers trust your advice and the skills of your team. However, I know there are times when you’ll pass up an opportunity because your delivery resources are fully booked or the available team doesn’t have the specific skills required for this engagement.
You can now take advantage of these missed opportunities by leveraging the K-TEK “Virtual Bench”. This new and innovative program allows K-TEK consultants to serve as your backup team. When the need arises, you can easily mobilize additional consulting resources through K-TEK.
K-TEK consultants have a dual role during a Virtual Bench engagement. While their primary focus is delivering high quality work in a timely fashion, they also ensure that your relationship with your customer is enhanced. Our virtual bench team recognizes that job #1 is to ensure that when the project is done, the credit for success belongs to you! Its in our best interest – we want you to invite us back for future engagements!
New K-Start offerings If you’re like many civil engineering customers, you’ve been using Land Desktop and now you have multiple copies of Civil 3D on the shelf. Perhaps you’ve “kicked the tires”, but like many customers you’ve found the learning curve too steep. A similar situation happens with Map 3D; it has numerous powerful features, but many customers are continuing to use it as a “super AutoCAD”, if they use it at all. It’s not a problem per se with the software. And it’s not a problem with your knowledge or capabilities. The challenge is to get over the hurdle, and have a plan for product adoption. K-TEK recognizes this hurdle, and also understands that while the details may differ, the challenge is very similar from one customer to another. Enter the K-Start. We’ve looked across multiple clients and projects for the lessons learned in successful adoption and implementation. This knowledge has been packaged into customizable service offerings that leverages standard elements to reduce the cost and risk to you. The result is a proven high-value service offering. K-TEK currently offers two K-Start programs. The first, K-Start for Civil 3D, helps you identify how Civil 3D best fits into your organization’s workflow, and then focuses on those elements of Civil 3D essential to early success. Our K-Start for Map 3D is similar, but concentrates on moving clients from basic AutoCAD DWG mapping to a solution that leverages Map 3D’s core basic functionality to improve your process and productivity. Details on these K-Start programs are available on our website, and also at the booth at AU. Check them out!
