It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since I become K-TEK Solution’s president! I’m delighted with the progress that K-TEK has made over the past year, and am looking forward to the challenges in the year ahead.

This past year K-TEK achieved all of our growth and marketing targets for the year. What’s more, K-TEK has added consultants and staff so now there are 20 people in the overall organization.

Perhaps more significant, K-TEK has evolved over the past year from the company you perhaps knew under Pete Kelsey. Of course, K-TEK is still delivering technical trainings, documentation, and implementation support for Autodesk’s civil and geospatial products. In addition, we are doing more projects that provide management consulting services, and we are working with the management of our customers to help them accomplish their strategic goals.

Autodesk University – Busy and Profitable

AU07_CathyAndPete.jpgK-TEK spent a busy week at Autodesk University this past November. On Monday, I presented a version of the “First Steps to Success for Implementing Civil 3D” training at a meeting of Autodesk major accounts. For the rest of the conference, attendees got to meet various K-TEK team members, including Robert Bowling, Dan Leighton, Julie Dahlke, and Sarah Wheeler in the K-TEK booth.

The week proved quite successful for K-TEK, as we met countless Autodesk users, leading to dozens of new leads, and several new projects. But more important than this was the opportunity to get to see many of you face to face, reestablish old relationships, and make new friends within this amazing industry.

Training That Goes Beyond “Picks and Clicks”

K-TEK has been very involved with Autodesk in developing a new program to help ensure customer success with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Called “First Steps to Success for Implementing Civil 3D”, this training focuses on providing resellers with a superior approach to helping customers with adoption and early use of Civil 3D.

Developed in conjunction with Autodesk’s Channel Readiness team, the “First Steps to Success” training included several new innovations for Autodesk reseller training. Rather than focusing on “picks and clicks” and the “how does it work” aspects of implementing a product, this training focused on customer workflows and process, taking a “how will it fit” approach. In addition to developing the content, K-TEK pioneered an innovative “Content Access Toolkit” to package and deliver the material and associated documents. This toolkit allows Autodesk resellers to quickly access any information or document template using a simple and intuitive web-based interface.

In addition to developing these materials, I was invited to serve as the presenter for a series of training sessions throughout the US, for reseller technical staff. And just recently, additional sessions of this training were scheduled because of ongoing interest, and the desire to expand the audience to include reseller sales teams.

New Faces at K-TEK

We’re continuing to expand our consulting bench, as well as add support staff to streamline the business side of K-TEK. We’ve just recently welcomed Sarah Wheeler, who has joined K-TEK to serve as a project manager and to manage our consultant program. Many of you may know Sarah from her previous role at Autodesk where she managed the Autodesk Consulting 3rd party consultant program.

In addition to Sarah, we have several new consultants joining the K-TEK roster, expanding our expertise in both geospatial services and Civil 3D know how. These include Michael Fitzgibbon, Scott Wagner and Rad Lazic, to name a few. I’m also pleased that Kim Davis, who has worked with K-TEK for many years, is continuing and expanding her role providing business-level consulting services.

OTC and Sales Camp

If you’re visiting Autodesk’s One Team Conference (OTC) or Sales Camp, both Dan Leighton and I will be present. If you’re a reseller, and you’d like to know more about our Virtual Bench program to reinforce your services arm, be sure to drop me a line at cathy.wagenaar@k-teksolutions.com. Note that in addition to attending sessions, Dan will be serving as a subject matter expert in the geospatial Sales Camp sessions on Water and Waterwater, as well as the session on Engineering and Construction. Don’t hesitate to corner us to say hello!
