K-Start for Civil 3D

To meet this challenge, K-TEK developed K-Start for Civil 3D – a program designed to help organizations accelerate their learning curve, avoid common pitfalls, and provides clients a solid foundation to leverage Civil 3D in a planned, incremental, managed fashion.

Based on a proven methodology and managed by experienced K-TEK staff, the K-Start program delivers immediate training benefits, while serving as a well-crafted foundation for long term productive use of Civil 3D in your organization.

Technical Training

K-TEK offers a range of civil software training-related services, including on-site instructor led training, virtual classroom training, and computer based training.

K-TEK goes beyond standard training courses, and can provide training that is optimized for an organization’s current skill level and specific engineering focus. Our trainers have advanced practical experience doing engineering design with both Civil 3D and Land Desktop, and we leverage Autodesk’s courseware as well as materials from other companies.

Custom Styles and Subassemblies

While Civil 3D provides basic styles and subassemblies, clients require customized styles and will often benefit by using customized subassemblies unique to their needs. K-TEK can help determine the best approach to leverage the power of styles and subassemblies, and then tailor them to your specific needs.

Process Review and Audit

K-TEK can analyze your overall design process and recommend an implementation plan that will incorporate incremental improvements and make best use of a team’s available skills, tools, and time. The K-TEK process review and audit process considers CAD standards, software configuration, custom tools, network and document sharing, data management, current skills, and more. We help our clients better leverage their existing investments, and plot a long term plan to invest in tools, training, and process upgrades to be more effective in the future.

Document Migration

Every client has design and project work created using legacy software. While many documents can remain in old formats, some information is best migrated to ensure it is accessible and can be reused on future projects.
K-TEK understands the challenge of migrating files, data, and documents, and has experience helping clients accurately preserve and move information from common legacy formats including MX, CAiCE, Eaglepoint, Land Desktop, and others. Depending on the project scale and timing, K-TEK can create a productive manual process to convert the drawings, or develop custom translators to facilitate bulk migration in a short period of time.
Migration is more than simple conversion; there are numerous decisions that should be made to ensure that the result is both accurate and useful for ongoing work. K-TEK is skilled at identifying what aspects of documents must be preserved, what can be updated, and what might remain as fixed background information.

Custom Application Development

One advantage of all Autodesk products is their flexibility to be extended with domain or client specific applications. This can be a simple as creating VBA macros to implement new commands or reports, or as advanced as full integration of hydraulic models into the Civil 3D environment.
K-TEK works with civil engineering clients to determine application requirements for such custom development, and also lead or perform the implementation of custom solutions, simple or complex.
